It was a crazy week with the approaching storm. I got into tennis clinic then went to check on my parents and convinced my mom not to drive to Pensacola...which maybe was a bad idea. Voss had a baseball game that night and won. I brought my dad after Abby's dance class. Tuesday I took over the JWJ Instagram account (which is kina funny bc I'm usually managing it anyway). It was a good day to do so because I went to the SAC meeting then to the school board office for a PTSA council meeting. I took a quick walk on the beach for the last hurrah at Sawgrass (our reciprocal ended). Turns out that school was canceled for the rest of the week due to Hurricane Ian. We spent Wednesday preparing the yard and house, taking everything out the yard and off the porch. Mom and I went shopping for our book summit weekend (praying it could still happen). That night we went to TCC with the Van Wies and Nixons for a Hurricane party. The wind and rain started. We had a hotel reservation for Thursday night but ended up canceling it as the storm seemed to narrowly miss us, heading across the state south and then further into the Atlantic. We got lucky. The tide did come up into the yard maybe 3 feet over the bulkhead. Scary but not bad. Marly had ballroom dance on Friday night. We went out for pizza with a bunch of parents and families from the class. It ended in an after party in the Agrestis hot tub. Wow! The next morning I took the girls to Nutcracker practice then packed up for the book summit. The weekend in St. Simons Island was canceled but April worked some magic and made a mini-weekend happen with an over night in Jax Beach. It was perfect. With a smaller group it felt like one of the first weekends. My mom and I got some quality time together. Suzanne stayed back with dad. We had a marvelous weekend discussing books. Rachael and I even did a little night swimming in the Atlantic. I didn't want to come home but we did. Phil, Marly and I watched the Jags loose at Extreme Wings, picked up Ellie from a movie date with a friend. Renee took them to their costume fittings for Nutcracker while my mom and I went to mass. I tried to watch the Dahmer series on Netflix. It was so awful I switched to Bridgerton to watch again. I read the amazing book, the Personal Librarian over the storm weekend. And now I have lots of TBR books from the summit. Here are the pics of the week.
