A little drama mixed in with our lazy summer days. A quick trip to Miami and only a half week of camp; not the week we were expecting. Monday had a normal start with swim team and HIIT for me. We drove out to Marywood to spy on Ellie at camp and help serve lunch. It looked like she was enjoying it. It brought back all the feels serving lunch. That evening Phil and I were invited to the grand opening of Cady Club, our friend's new event space. We ended up having dinner with the Spencers and Krishnamurphys at Josephines. Tuesday was swim and barre class. My plan was to spend the day doing some finishing touches on our trip. I went to enter my mom's passport info into the Delta app, but they wouldn't accept it on the site. After some googling I learned you have to have a non-expired password for 90 days to go to Denmark. Mom's was at 56! So, I freaked for a bit, called the state department and after refreshing the website many times, got a miracle appointment to expedite a passport renewal in Miami on Thursday. I booked some flights and tried to continue with my day, reading Harry Potter with Voss and practicing my Duo Lingo. I was grateful to have a night out on the calendar. Ready for that summer cocktail (Prosecco and elderflower) and dinner with Regan, Kat, Sunny and their baseball pals. Wednesday morning Ellie called that she was headed home. There was a COVID outbreak at Camp so they canceled the rest of the week. Such a bummer, especially for the campers! It was nice to have her home again, though. Swim and HIIT and Marly helped me do some shopping for the Danes. Mom came over for a seafood dinner. I was so nervous I was going to miss my alarm so I hardly slept Wednesday night. Finally at 3:45am I went to mom's and we ubered to the airport, hopped a flight to Miami and ubered to the passport office. The first part wasn't so bad. We had to show our appointment time, go through security and then wait in another line. I was pulled out of that line to wait in a much shorter line. We showed all the docs and they told us to go and wait a few hours for them to print the new passport. Luckily the office was in a nice area along Bayside. We had a delicious breakfast and walked around the park on the bay. Three hours later we went back to the office and waited another hour and mom walked out with a new passport! I was able to move up our flight, we ubered back to the airport, grabbed drinks and queso and flew home. Whew! I crashed! I was not able to meet up with my father in law to hug him on his 91st Birthday. Friday it was back to swim and HIIT. I went to adoration with my mom and fiddled around the house. Voss and I finished reading the Prisoner of Azkaban together, ate chocolate frogs and watched the movie. I finished reading Beautiful Ugly. We picked up Jenny for wine tasting at Bernie's then walked to a new Ecuadorian restaurant in Murray Hill. We continued to Fishwier Brewery, Lillians and then Murray's....as if we are 22 year olds! Yes, Saturday was rough. I headed to church for a formation retreat all morning. I snuck out after lunch for a swim meet and sweat through my clothes while timing. Voss wasn't feeling well and stayed home but Ellie got to swim! Three strong sisters! We stayed in for a family pizza and movie night watching Murder Mystery. This morning we all served at mass and got a travel blessing. TCC b-fast and then some time packing. I met Tracy for a catch up cocktail. Abby went to a paint party with the Fredland sisters. We celebrated Abby's Baptism Birthday with a sushi dinner. Ellie is at a friend's Birthday party. Time to pack up and get ready! Here are the pics of the week.
