I've been worried about this week for a while. So many things happening at the same time. Every time I went to put something in my calendar for this week, I'd shudder and then quickly close out. The very reason I have to go one week at a time (and then sometimes just one day at a time) because it's just too much to orchestrate. Let it play out and fix problems as they happen, don't worry about potential problems that may never play out. Not that this always works. But it did this week! All fun stuff, mind you. The kids didn't have school Monday or Tuesday. I was bummed I didn't make a vacation out of the free 5-day weekend...but this is usually the most beautiful time of year here so it was nice we could enjoy it and not do much. I went to tennis clinic again on Monday and it was fine. I'm moving okay. It's still tender on my leg, and I'm still nervous to do quick movements. But, I'm back out there! We had an exciting evening for Voss (other than rushing from soccer to scouts), he crossed over to Boy Scouts! I took him shopping for all the uniform swag (and quickly embroidered a few things) and they did a sweet ceremony that evening. I'm excited for the real adventure to begin! After a parent meeting, Phil and I took him out to his fave, Jersey Mikes for dinner. I used Tuesday as my usual Monday for laundry and shopping and getting things back in order from the weekend. Kids finished up homework. By the time I went to go get mom for dinner, she had already eaten so she didn't join us this week. Luckily she had lots of Easter leftovers. The weather was crazy at the beginning of the week with a Nor'easter rolling in. Much needed rain and lots of wind. It actually worked out because Abby's swim was canceled so that was one example of lots of things happening that I was worried about. It also canceled the first part of the San Jose member guest that would have been fun, but it was good to bow out and not juggle. I watched The Empress while getting a start on the end of year teacher gifts (look at me trying to ease Maycember!) We had a middle school PTSA meeting on Thursday morning, getting geared up for testing and the end of the year. My high school pal, Chrissy came over to hang a bit before our friend, Andrew came in town. He was escaping the Boston snow to enjoy the sunshine state and catch up. A plumber came late, to add some stress and do an inspection. We were late to get Andrew from the airport but it all worked out and he made it on time for his conference call (on the porch on the river). The 3 of us went out for a sunset boat ride. I was worried about the wind, but we went back into the Ortega river and it was really nice. So fun catching up with some of my besties. Chrissy's mom joined us for a nightcap on the porch. The next morning, I met my college roomie and her husband for breakfast, they were passing through town for spring break. I loved catching up with them. From there I met up with Anna for our first match of the tournament. We played great! We lost in the tie breaker, 9-11 but it was a great match! Andrew and Chrissy came to cheer me on and Phil caught the tie breaker. Anna had to run to senior night activities for her daughter. We sat out watching tennis, sipping prosecco and catching up. It was a delightful afternoon. My sister joined us, too. We ended up going out for dinner and meeting up with another HS friend, Adam. Then we met more friends out at Hardwicks for a crazy night! I was not prepared for the boylesque part. It was an experience, for sure! We were slow the next morning. Phil and Voss came with me to my next match with Anna. We got a total spanking. We just could not get anything together. Way too many mistakes. Anna stayed to party. We went to Voss' soccer game. It was great to be on the winning side of that one! Voss scored a few goals and we spanked the other team! We dropped Voss at the pool with friends. Abby went to a Birthday party. Marly babysat and Ellie did homework (stopped for a lunch and pool break). Phil and I headed to the beach for the final high school hang out of the weekend. Sandy hosted us as always. So many laughs and fun stories with the crew! This time we were good and came home at a reasonable time. I was up early for an 8am match with Anna. We still got beat but played much better than Saturday. 2-6 then 4-6. I stayed to sip bloodies and watch. Anna ran to more senior activities. We didn't get as much together time this go round, but we did divide and conquer the party part of the tournament! I met the family at the pool for lunch then headed to check on my mom. The guys played soccer. We went to 5pm mass and family dinner at High Tide (my fave). Early bedtime for all! Here are the pics of the week.
